Just listened to the latest news story on the CDC shooting. According to the story, approximately 180 rounds of (I guess 223/556) were fired from the CVS across the street (maybe less than 300 yards) into the buildings. Only 4 to 6 rounds actually penetrated the glass windows. Was it the distance ? Was it the type glass ? Was it the bullet design ? Or perhaps that was typical/normal for all considered. I am always interested in learning something new. Thanks.

really depends on a lot of factors, type of glass, numbers of layer, if they were tinted, etc. Also ammo used would make a difference, as would angle. Shoot at a weird angle and most will skip off like when you shoot into water.

Oh, this is news to me because I’ve been living under a rock!
But those airsoft guns may be the problem with the lack of penetration!

I believe your comment on the angle of the shot could definitely be an answer. Thanks.

Which CDC, where ?? Georgia?
The one in Atlanta, yes. It's been wildly under reported. Not sure why. Happened two Fridays ago, 8 August. A gunman opened fire on the CDC and expended almost 200 rounds before killing a cop then killing himself. A friend of mine works near there. He said it sounded like a war zone. Shooter was barricaded in a coffee shop or something across the street. He had previously tried to make entry to the CDC campus but was turned away.

To the OP, the windows are treated, thus the lack of penetration.
