Hey guys I'm looking to change the look in my Gen 4 G19. I'm deciding whether to duracoat or cerakoted the slide. Any suggestions as to which is more durable? I was thinking about a grey slide. Also is there anyone near Clayton County ( city of Morrow) whom can do it for me for a reasonable price?

Cerakote is very thin but very durable if the prep work has been accomplished. You can cerakote plastic but have to reduce the heat and increase the time for it to cure correctly.

duracoat works well but it will show wear if you edc the gun or holster and reholster everyday after a few months in my experience, id cerakote if i were you (my gun is just an edc gun so i don't plan on winning any show prizes with it so it doesn't bug me)

Got a 1911 cerakoted OD green and it has been in a holster and carried on 4 wheeler rides a lot with no signs of wear. Got it done by will here in rockmart. Very reasonable price.

When a slide is cerakoted... it's not blasted so hard as to remove the nitride layer is it? What's the procedure on the internal stuff? Do they do the inside of the slide? What about the extractor slot?
