Chevy question ???

I drive a 97 k1500 z71 with a 5.7L. The shift linkage is loose and won't go into park...how much would I expect to pay to get this fixed?

not sure if that model has a cable or a steel rod , but should be an easy fix parts and labor $100 to $200 depends on who you get to do the work

it has a cable IIRC. easy fix

Either the cable is loose or the detent linkage inside is loose or bent not allowing parking paw to engage. I would'nt think it would cost over a couple hundred but probally less

All the other gears are fine...I just have to park on a flat surface and reach up under it and give it a slight tug on the cable into park...but thanks for the input, guys... I can sleep easier knowin I don't have to sell a kidney so I can park on a hill!

Take it to a Toyota or Honda dealer and they'll fix you right up.

Sounds like the cable is stretched...or the detent lever is tweaked. As noted already...pretty cheap fix either way.

zip tie will fix it right up!! Real hot days mine won't come out of park , i don't know why it only does it when it is hot
