Just lucked up on a Colt Commander in Satin Stainless Steel. Has years of light oil and gunk. What’s best to use to clean it with out any damage? Thanks,

I have used denatured Alcohol

Nice soak in your prefered gun cleaning solvent (Hoppe's #9 or similar), and scrub with a nylon AP brush.

Chances are its satin nickel, not stainless, Be cautious in cleaning. Hoppes #9 should be ok.
