Will work for a bit, lots of viable options such as
rbstern
suggested. But sealer, deet, clear coat etc will not last as long as a true repolishing. IMHOI absolutely hate doing a job twice.
I used a 3M polishing / headlight restoration kit on my Honda car,
and then my buddy saw how well it worked and used the same kit on his
big Ford pickup.
This process involves using a drill with a buffer disc and using a set of 3 or 4 progressively-finer sandpaper discs on the plastic, and then wiping everything off with a special damp cloth they provide in the kit.
I got lazy and didn't tape-off every bit of painted metal and chrome around my headlights, and thus did scuff some things other than the headlight covers. If I had followed the instructions faithfully that wouldn't have happened.
The result was that the lights looked 90% better in a half hour.
Now almost 2 years later, they're still pretty good.
