Competition/Range Ammo

Eley is phenomenal. One of my go-to’s for rimfire especially.

But I don’t find their brass centerfire stuff to be so much better to warrant the price. Maybe for open or PCC specific offerings… but not for everyday handguns…

So, Blazer is accurate enough for match shooting?
That’s good to hear, Ive got a good bit of it. I was just wondering if some kind of match ammo was needed.

Assuming that you're interested in USPSA, IDPA, or GSSF type matches, "six inches at 25 yards" would be "accurate enough". I've been to matches where the farthest target was at 10 yards, so I probably could have loaded the bullets in the cases backwards and still be accurate enough. Of course, tighter is better, but I'd be more interested in reliability and feel.

Most of your major manufacturer's ammo will be reliable and good quality handloads will be too.

"Feel" is totally subjective. A lot of folks prefer the soft push of 147 or 160 grain bullets. Some (me included) prefer the faster, snappier feel of 124s....

No matter who's ammo you use, be sure to chronograph it through your gun to make sure that it is making Power Factor (that it is "hot" enough for the Rulebook). Most 9mm factory loadings are above that Power Factor floor, but some are REAL close and might not make it, especially in a shorter-barreled pistol.

The federal Gold Medal action pistol 147gr is sweet, but pricey. Of the more affordable stuff One of my glocks shoots 115 federal champion better, the other likes AE 124. I bought about 6 different kinds and shot groups to see what they preferred and it was obvious. If I was going to a national match id spring for the action pistol load that is guaranteed to make power factor also.
