I have had one of these for several years. I have always thought it was a good gun. Can't seem to find a lot of information on the gun. Anybody out there got any input? Value, reliability, etc?
I have heard that early models had an issue with the bore and accuracy was marginal, they corrected it then resumed the same error after a period. I expect they got it right by now. It's a combat pistol so expect it to be reliable as a pistol can be.
It's a South Korean firearm and the official sidearm of ROK military. I departed Korea in 1989 and missed seeing these but have watched their firearms gain in popularity to a small niche of firearm enthusiast.
The Daewoo DH40 is, as stated above, the issue sidearm of the South Korean military. As you know this pistol is what the Koreans designate as a "triple action" model. You can fire it double action on the first round, you can carry it cocked and locked and fire the first round single action or you can load the chamber, then push the hammer forward to the rest position and then with a very light pull on the trigger, the hammer resets to the single action position and is ready to fire single action!! I loved this feature!!
I had one of these for a number of years and loved the pistol. I never had any malfunctions with it. My only beef was that the pistol hit 12" low at 10 yards. I did everything I could to get it to hit point of aim. The folks at David's Gun Room, in Norcross, tried to install new sights on it, but even with a sight moving tool, they could not get the rear sight out of the dovetail. Sadly, I finally, out of frustration, traded it off on a Browning .40 S&W Hi-Power. If it had hit where it was pointed, I'd still have it! Great gun, lousy sights!!
