I knew this would be the place I could get some straight answers. I have heard The Good the Bad and the Ugly about Davidson defense.
A friend of mine has some used barrels, a new complete upper, and various other parts.
What can someone tell me about their barrels, who actually makes them and are they known for a quality built product?

No real input other than the feel and look like all the post PSA ar companies (like Karris Guns, Radical Firearms, Midstate, etc). I imagine most, Davidson Defense included, are sourcing directly from the same and actual manufacturer.

Upper was Aero, but it specified that in the kit details. Nitride finished barrel & free float hand guard were probably the only “Davidson Defense” parts in the kit. I’m no snob but it looked good & shot well enough for me on the 25 yd range. Which is not saying much, but I don’t have an outdoor range nearby to stretch it out. Kit took a while to ship. I think they said they were waiting on the uppers to arrive (pre-sold the kits without all parts in hand). Kit was missing a c clip & some pin, but they sent those right out after 2 polite emails. If barrels are Davidson Defense, used, & you’re getting them from a friend, hopefully you’re getting a pretty good deal.

The price of their barrels is not very high which actually leaves me a bit skeptical of the quality. Realistically, how can a company charge 60% lesser price been a company that has huge buying power? Does the huge company just have that much greed? Or in fact are the Davidsons a much lower end product.
It just got me to thinking about cost for barrels oh, and what it must take in order to produce one. I understand Davidson is not a large company so I would assume they are sourcing their barrels just like midsize companies do

Their customer service is horrible....absolutely atrocious. They commonly sell items they don't have in stock, and neglect to inform you they are on back order, or give an estimated delivery date.

Every bolt I have bought from them has had an improperly staked gas key.
