Hey, I can't find the dog thread (sure there used to be one, just can't find it) so I have a question and will ask it here. My 2 year old American Pit Bull has lost interest in his food. It's what we have been feeding him forever. He still eats, but obviously not with the same enthusiasm as he used to. I've added small amounts of bacon grease, which he likes, but I don't always have that available. I don't like canned food, and have had a little luck by mixing in a pouch of the moist stuff. Just wondering if anybody has a trick they use. Or if someone has a particular brand, or flavor that may boost his appetite. He's a healthy dog, and not obese or skinny. I would just like to see him enjoy his meals more. Thanks

The Vet suggests I try Iams, or one of the other high price foods (which he happens to sell at his practice). The list of ingredients don't seem to differ much with what we currently use. I dont mind spending the $. But we have purchased small bags of most brands with not a lot of success. I don't like to constantly change his diet, for fear of causing a digestive problem.

I received an e-mail for delieved pet foods a while back i will check it out again. Also the vet recommended to use the bigger size bites of dog food so they have to chew it up completely.

I had the same problem with my Pit. She lost all interest in eating. I ended up buying Blue Buffalo dry and canned food. I mix a little canned food in with her dry food and she eats like a pig now.

I am moving mine over to a predominantly raw diet.... right now I am mixing dry food with raw venison 4 days a week, a raw egg one day a week, a fattier meat (liver/beef) one day a week and fish one day a week.

I am using up the crappy pedigree and iams that I have presently and will be most likely moving to blue buffalo or other grain-free food. I also am going to have to hit my bag limit this deer season to feed the pups for the year!
