So this all begs the question: "Is the SR1911 the best value for a 1911 in that price range?"

With it being a series 70 style, fewer MIM parts than lots of other 1911s, and factory Novak sights, I'd have to say it is a bargain in the under $700 1911 lineup.

I overpaid when they first came out due to supply and demand but its ok its a great pistol.

Got a good deal on here for a SR1911 Government size for $650. included 85 rounds of 230 grn fmj. If you buy from Cherokee or another FFL you'll pay right @ $700 with tax.

Yup, I paid $577 for mine last week Friday. It looked like it had a small scratch on it so It was 10% off plus additional 5% for the scratch. The scratch polished right out so, I think it was just something from the packing. Oh since I purchased it in the local AAFES (PX) on Post, there was no sales Tax either. The ones for $700 or more is just another person trying to make profit on the unknowing. IMO

Couldn't resist this. Just put a blank where SR1911 CMD is!!!! Fill in with just about anything listed here. Folks need to visit GA Gunstore before they post! A good reality check on the market. Those selling PT1911's, RIA's Sig 1911's and any black rifles should definitely check them out.

Yeah GA Gun usually has stuff $50-$100 cheaper for new items than what most people on here are asking for used.
