I built an AR15 pistol some time ago. Build consists of Lothar Walter 7.5" barrel, YHM quad rail, aimpoint, LRB lower, spikes tube and buffer.

I had heard these were really dodgey and prone to FTFs. I was EXTREMELY surprised at both the accuracy of the short barrel and not a single FTF in 100 plus rounds!

Even worse i'm a dummy and forgot to oil the thing and fired it DRY. Not smart I know but we drove an hour.

Now - bad news - the buffer tube in the shoulder after a ton of rounds hurts...but we were having fun.

Here is a pic of the gun and the video of my 12 yo son doing a few double taps...

Put a single point sling on it and instead of pulling the buffer tube into your shoulder like a rifle push out against the sling for support ..... it takes a little bit to get used to but once you do its not bad.

Like Outsyd said put a one point sling on it and a GSE shorty buffer.

Heres what my old pistol looked like with the GSE buffer. I miss it so bad. Why did I ever sell it? :frusty:

Nice work.
they can be very accurate if set up properly Like yours.
Great for CQB and easily concealed.

The key to effective target engagement (IMHO)is to have a cheek weld only contact with the buffer tube. Slaming the tube into your shoulder can get old fast.
allow for recoil travel by establishing a point about 3" back from the charging handle as point of contact. This method will allow for repeat hits on targets due to creating a sight picture that is identical to the standard Ar rifle, without as much fatigue on the arm muscles.

I employ this method on mine and I love it. Easy to acquire correct sight picture and is more manuverable in confined spaces than a standard rifle. Lots of ammo options as well.

Good Choice Womsterr

I was surprised how accurate it was once sighted in. Even took out a small varmint at about 50 yards while we were out at the hunt club. As far as SBRing it - maybe down the road. This was an attempt to build a nice quality pistol inexpensively. I was looking at some of the premade pistol packages but they were just over priced. Even got the Flaming Pig used on ARFCOM. Plus - I just got the SBR stamp for my M92 Krink ;) gotta finish the projects on hand first!!!
