Item Description: 1978 Marlin 1894 44 magnum. It is pre cross bolt safety and JM stamped. I really like the patina on this rifle. As you can see the bluing is thin in some places and the walnut stock has a few love marks on it. It looks exactly like a 42 year old Marlin that has harvested a few hogs and whitetail should look. The rear sight has been replaced with a Lyman sight and the hood has been removed from the front sight. The Lyman sight provides a better sight picture than the original - if you want the original they are available from several sources online. Otherwise it is all original.
Yes, $650 is the price of a new 1894, but I would choose a JM stamped one without the cross bolt safety over a new Remington Marlin any day of the week.
