Item Description: Up for sale only is a 2001 Ford F-150 7700. The 7700 was a weird truck that was basically a F250 branded as an F-150. I was told that Ford did this because many fleet buyers had the authority to buy a 1/2 ton truck but not a 3/4 ton so they rebranded this like a 1/2 ton and sold it that way. This truck started out as gas/natural gas (hence the two gas doors) but the natural gas plumbing has been removed and it is just gas now. Features of the 7700 include:
  • 7 lug wheels
  • larger frame than the F150
  • larger brake rotors
  • 3:73 rear end from factory
  • 4R100 Tranny
  • extra leaf in back
  • larger Torsion bars -
  • heavier towing capacity
  • heavy duty
  • power steering cooler
  • 4700 lbs rear axle
  • heavy duty radiator
  • heavy duty alternator
  • heavy duty battery
  • transmission is the same as a F250 SD and the F350 SD
  • 8,600 lbs towing
  • 11,500 lbs GCVWR
This truck was a DeKalb County fleet truck and was maintained as fleet vehicles normally are. I bought it here for about $3,500 a few years ago because I needed a truck for the occasional Home Depot run, etc. Since I bought it I had the rear end completely rebuilt by Drive Line Service of North Atlanta for around $1,500 (gears, bearings, etc). Other than that I have done normal maintenance. I really don't want to part with it but we're a family of five and have seven cars and the HOA is up my arse about my "car lot'. Very dependable and runs great. Only mechanical problem it has is it's running lean and that has caused the check engine light to come on. Of course that means I can't get a clear emission but I just don't have time to chase down the vacuum leak. If you do, or if you can register it outside the metro counties that require the gay emission inspection, then this is a great deal on truck that runs well.

Pros:
Starts every time and runs great
No drips, leaks, etc.
Cold Air
165,000 miles
5.4 L V8
Newly rebuilt differential
Work Truck interior - vinyl floor, manual locks and windows

Cons:
Ghost of DeKalb County logo etched in door paint
Small crack in windshield
Check engine light is on with a "running lean" code
Original vinyl seat cover is torn up on driver's side (bench, not back)

Truck is located off 141 just north of McGinnis Ferry and is available to see any time.
