ELGIN MODEL 6 POCKET WATCH/WRIST WATCH CONVERSION FROM 1901 - $800
Elgin National Watch Co. was in operation from 1864-1968 and was an American pocket watch manufacturer. Manufacturing of Elgin watches took place at their facility in Elgin, Illinois. This particular Elgin model 6 pocket watch was manufactured and finished in 1901.
It is powered by Elgin’s in-house 17 jewel Grade 242 movement, which is sturdy, reliable. This conversion is a true test of time and fine example of American prowess in manufacturing. The movement has been completely restored and custom refinished with blue accents. The accents were created by thermally treating each movement part by hand to color the iron based components, and the hands have been restored using the same process. The Elgin dial is in the ‘fancy-dial’ setting and features multiple colors and gold inlay. The dial has a hairline that runs from the edge to the center between 2-3 o’clock, but is void of any chips or cracks. The hands of the watch are original and in the fancy Louis XIV style. The watch is cased in a 50mm wristwatch conversion case so the timepiece can be easily enjoyed on the wrist. Because of Frett Clockworks dedication to preserving history, the original hunter case is provided as well.
