Item Description: Up for sale is my prized WW2 Australian slouch hat..this has been in the family for as long as I can recollect. The pink and green 'diamond's attribute this hat to the North Australian Obsevation Unit, also known as the 'Nackeroos' or 'Curtin's Cowboys'. This was a unit that patrolled the Northern Australian coastline in anticipation of a Japanese invasion. The hat was brought back by a family friend who supposedly traded it for a pack or two of smokes.
Leather sweat band is dated 1942, and needs some attention.
NAOU items are, from my research, extraordinarily rare. If interested in this item, look this unit up and do some reading.
This is a great addition to any WW2 collection, and I would not be selling it at all if I didn't have to. Serious inquiries only please. Thanks for looking.
