Item Description: Make: Nepalese. These Rifles were hand made.
Model: "Gahendra Rifle". A domestically produced Nepalese Peabody. Similar to a Martini rifle.
Year of Manufacture: 1880s-1898 (Nepalese records indicate that production ceased prior to 1899)
Caliber: .577/450 Martini Henry
Action Type: Lever Operated Single Shot Falling Block Rifle
Markings: The rear of the receiver, bottom & top of the of the lever, rear sight ladder, and rear sight base are marked with Nepalese “Devangari” script and or Nepali numbers.
Barrel Length: Approximately 33 Inches
Condition: This rifle is in rough shape, so I can't make any good assessment of condition. The action still functions, but my understanding is that firing it may be unsafe until bore measurements are taken due to variations in manufacture. The rifle appears to have been refinished.
