Item Description: 1997 Palm Beach Model 155 Whitecap Center Console from Marine Manufacturing, Inc. of Douglas GA. This company sold brands including Palm Beach, Key Largo, and Clearwater, and had a reputation for building solid working-class hulls. After a fire in the early 2000s, Marine Manufacturing Inc went out of business, and another company has since marketed this hull design as Key Largo.
This particular boat was matched with a 40 HP Yamaha 2-Stroke (Model C40TLRX). The engine has a mechanical problem that is beyond my skill to repair. It has good compression, and spark registers going to the 3 cylinders, but it seems that a cylinder drops intermittently. I have priced the boat assuming zero allowance for the engine, and will gladly tell you everything I know about it and everything I have tried to repair it.
The boat is rated for 75 HP, so was underpowered, which I compensated for by using a prop that allowed it to accelerate acceptably and achieve full throttle RPMs (5500) with top speed of about 27mph. I have done a lot to the boat to make it fishable for me as a live bait (striper/hybrid/crappie) fishing boat, but if I keep it I will repower it. I don't like something not to function 100%, mechanically.
UPDATE (Price Reduction): My initial pricing at $3,300 was based on JD Power valuation, for average retail price without an engine. I am using a portable fuel tank because the under-deck tank has issues. I have reduced the price accordingly.
