Who was the engraver? The only factory “Tactical Edition” that S&W made was the model 327. Sure looks fancy though.
This gun is from my dads estate. He passed in 2013. He was a collector. I am not. I can’t ask him obviously and didn’t find any paper documentation on it in the mountain of papers he had.

I did however find one sale listed in 2013 of this exact gun for $4500 on Gun Broker. Unfortunately neither I or any dealer have been able to find that listing or any listing or any other information. Where do you get your information?

I know the gun was purchased in the early 2000’s and that he bought it like this, he didn’t personally have it engraved.

He had many other vintage revolvers, Mostly Colts.

Sounds like your Dad had excellent taste in revolvers! The 627 never came engraved like this. Someone put in a great deal of time and love working on this one! These models in stock form (without the custom work) are listed for $1300-$1500 regularly on GB. The same ones keep getting relisted it seems like.

S&W's historian would be able to provide a factory letter of authenticity for that serial number if you request it. I think the fee is quite modest
