6.8SPC has 44% more energy than 5.56 & was started by US Army Marksmanship Team & Special Operations Command for use in Afghanistan. 6.8 is between the 5.56 NATO & 7.62 NATO in bore diameter and uses the same diameter bullet (usually not the same mass) as the .270WIN hunting cartridge.
