I just sold my 12 ga 870 Special Field. Bought it used in 1989. It had the 21 inch Remchoke VR barrel. But the years have taken it's toll on my 74 year old disabled Vietnam vet body. Am getting recoil sensitive and it was kicking the snot out of me. I purchased a 20 gauge 870 Special Field the same year as the 12, and I kept it. Will be using it for doves in a couple weeks.

Back in the day, this model was THE bird gun and had quite a cult type following. Then short barrel semi autos and over & unders started hitting the market and the pump lost popularity among bird hunters.

In my opinion it's the best model 870 Remington ever made.
