Georgia Carry ?

Cant say what it is now, but i was a member for several years in the past and really dont know why or what for.

Money better spent elsewhere as i see it.

I'm a member. I let it lapse for a year but paid my dues again today.

They have been very relevant in the past. We can thank them for sb308 and hb89 to name a few. Things have slowed down as of late. They are still working, but anything major will be doa should it make it to deal's desk. If we get a decent governor in place, things will pick right back up again.

I'm a member and they do a great job keeping members updated on pending state legislation as well as county and city ordinances that may impact or violate gun owners rights. GCO focuses on gun issues affecting Georgia residents which sometimes get lost or overlooked by national organizations like the NRA or GOA. Check out the website and give them a call if you have any questions as they would be happy to answer them and we welcome new members. There's strength in numbers.

GA Carry is a good group that gets a lot of flack because they don't do everything 'right now!'. Over the years they have won some real improvements in GA gun laws, and pushed some of the court cases that kept those laws relevant. They seem to work well with the legislature, and have been a stand up organization from everything I've seen.

Gun rights are based on state organizations far more so than national ones, so I would recommend GA carry as a great organization to join.

As for GAO, I joined them just so the NRA would see there was some real 'no compromise' groups out there pushing them on. They don't have enough membership to do much, but they always get media attention and they remind the NRA that they aren't the only game in town. Totally optional.

You don't mention NRA, so I assume you are already a member. If not, that has to be something you do first, even before GA Carry. They are the only ones dealing with Congress, and the only ones who can. Like it or not, they are the wall between us gun owners and the politicians. If you don't like how they do things, join and vote the bassards out. If you do, then why would you not support them.

Last, but definitely not least, is the Second Amendment Foundation. These are the guys who won the Heller decision restoring the Second as an individual right. Unlike the NRA, they don't deal with Congress, they push through court cases, and if you think politicians are expensive, try dealing with lawyers.

These guys run on a shoestring, and their Life Membership is a whopping $150. They don't spend much on anything but taking gun controllers to court and sueing the snot out of them. On the national front, they are my #2 charity.
