Purchased a Remington 700 LTR that was supposed to be new. bought a night force mount that takes 6-48 screws. The two front screw plugs were hell getting off went to mount my night force rail on top and the two front screws wouldn’t go in. Back screws went in fine. I went to Atlanta Range in ordinance and they said it needed to be tapped, but they didn’t have the size went to Home Depot Harbor freight and Lowe’s? They also didn’t have the size. Alana Range in ordinance told me that they needed to be re-tapped, but they don’t have the size tap if a gunsmith and Newnan does. I would love to get it done tomorrow as it’s a birthday present for my dad and has a birthday in two days. 470-627-9801 please let me know if you
Can help

Normally will not find 6-48 taps at big box stores. You may find it at good hardware store. You can get them at places like McMaster-Carr and even Amazon. I do have this and would be glad to help, but I am a long way from Newnan and I know because my Daughter and Son-in-law lives down there. If I can help, PM me.

Thank you. Brother if I can’t find someone tomorrow I might just make the drive to you

Most guns use a special gun thread. You won't find those tools at the local yocal hardware store . Special order or a good gun shop smith will have them. Hope you get it worked out.
