Hi All,

I inherited an H&R "Handy Gun II" when my dad died, and am considering selling it. This is the one that has two barrels, a 20 Ga (smooth bore) and .44 Magnum (rifled bore). It is in excellent condition, and I believe I also have the cloth case (in good condition). I have been doing a lot of work on the house lately, and need the money far more than I need this gun - I know many of you can relate!

Anyway, does anyone have an idea on how much this gun is worth, and what a fair offering price would be?

Any additional information about the gun or it's history would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I remember my dad having one so this brought back a few memories and I just took a quick peek to check values, I have seen them as low as 200 and as much as 575. That was just a quick search and condition obviously drives value

It’s yours to do as you wish however it is something from your late father. If you think you’ll regret it later for sentimental reasons then find something else to sell or wait until you save the money you’re itching to spend.

I'm fairly certain that H&R ( and NEF) no longer make anything. In fact I think New England Firearms is officially out of bidness. And as far as I know H&R only exists as a name to brand the Chinese 870 knockoffs they import.
The short version is that ( in MY opinion) you have a collectible package. Not worth a lot of money but it's already getting scarce. The 44 barrel is probably worth more than the entire gun with the 20 gauge barrel on it. I'm no expert but that's my prediction.

Assuming it's in excellent condition :>)

Thanks to all for your comments and interest. I will be posting this gun for sale (if I LIVE through Xmas and family!), and will let you know. Doing some additional research into the value now. Everyone have a Merry Christmas! I will definitely get those pictures up ASAP!

This x 1000. It's not like you are getting enough out of this keepsake to pay for kids college or down payment on a home. You are getting a weeks worth of work at minimum wage. Keep the thing and save up for whatever $290 purchase you are just dying to make.
