My father has a Savage (don't know model right now), 223/20 gauge over/under rifle. The problem is that when you shoot 20 gauge, everything is ok but when you fire 223 barrel, after the shot, the barrel will open just like you unlatched it. Doesn't come flying open but you can pull it open without "unlatching it". Does that make any sense what I am saying? Anybody got any ideas, or do you think Savage would warranty this. The gun is sveral years old. Thanks

I'm not sure about the warranty I'm guessing probably not. I know they discontinued the model 24 several years ago but if you don't have one they may be able to send you an owners manual. Do you know what's causing this? If you do then you may be able to find parts at Numrich.
I hope maybe some of this info is useful. Good luck

Sounds like the latch spring is either broken or weakened. Would say it would be an easy fix, but I don't have much experience with Savage internals so I don't know how hard that would be to get to.
