I think the babies have a yellow tipped tail? Seems like I read that they use it as a lure to attract small prey.

Sorta it was in the drive way heading toward the pine straw

Trust me I was about to smash it with my foot till the wife distracted me . It was just a baby but don't need no copper head living near.

Yep baby copper heads got a bright tail they are hard miss. Looks like a brown snake to me.
