Item Description: $525.00 The rifle is matching and you can see a faint soviet cartouche on the stock along with the other arsenal markings It comes with 250 rounds of clean steel core ammo. 210 rounds is in bandoliers and 40 rounds in 2 boxes that is east european. This will easily punch holes through 1/4 inch steel plate. This rifle has a history. I was there when this was purchased off the rack at Brocks back when they were in Scottdale. The rifle was superficially cleaned and then not fired. I finally got the rifle then I oiled it up and it's been in my closet for 15 plus years and I haven't fired this one either. I'm a senior and don't drive at night etc. So plan on a trip to Lilburn. I will respond by PM to keep your business private

A good question was asked about corrosive ammo.

Always assume milsurp ammo for these Mausers is going to be corrosive. The countries that produced the ammo for these rifles stopped producing it when their military stopped using bolt action rifles.

The soviets were using corrosive for longer than most is what I've read.

I've said it before these rifles were fed nothing but corrrosive ammo for decades because that's all there was !

If you bought a surplus Mauser rifle in the last 50 years it's almost a certainty they have had corrosive ammo fired in them and nothing else ever used in them, until you bought it.

I believe it's the primer's components that can be corrosive.

Most of these rifles have survived in good condition. I always cleaned things up with rag made damp with watered down windex then cleaned and oiled as usual.

The American Military stopped using corrosive on the last few calibers around 1953 or so. All the 8mm surplus ammo I've seen anywhere, I would consider it corrosive. A Good Question. I would love to think a lot of the milsurp mauser ammo from europe and other places I've fired over the years was non corrosive but I'll never know because I cleaned the rifles I fired !!
