Item Description: For sale is a blue TC Encore pistol frame with walnut grip and forend. It is in good condition with a few handling marks. No rust or pitting. $300

I also have a blue TC Encore rifle frame with black butt stock. It is in great condition with a few handling marks. $275*SOLD PENDING MEET*

Forgive me as I'm sure this is a very stupid question, but I've always wondered this. Can the encore frame be used for both rifle and pistol configurations, or are the frames specific to a rifle or pistol setup?

That is a debate that has been around since the Contenders were first made. Per the law a pistol cannot be made into a rifle but a rifle can be made into a pistol. However there is no marking on the frames that say its a pistol or rifle, so...

Reverse that. Pistol frame to rifle okay. Rifle frame to pistol not okay. Other laws still apply. For instance, you cannot put together a rifle with a barrel length less than the required length by law (16 inches I think).

TC won a case just a few years ago and they will tell you that you can convert either frame. I tend to think they are correct. A call to TC and they will tell you by the serial number whether it was originally a rifle frame, a handgun frame, or one of the packages that came with both a rifle and handgun barrel.
