Item Description: I have a very unique custom Smith and Wesson Classic 10-8 .38 revolver. This gun has extensive custom work that was done by a true perfectionist. It is a very unique piece but sadly just does not fit into my collection. It is a old S&W 10-8 blued with the deep black blur that the old ones had and the true quality of the old guns. It shows some finish wear from honest use but no rust or pitting. Just "character". I believe it was converted into a "PPC" revolver because it came with a sight rib attached. I enjoyed shooting it more with out the sight rib so that is how i am selling it. The custom work is outstanding, true old school quality. It has been converted to double action only with a bobbed hammer. The hammer is beautifully machined, clearly on a mil and not some dremil job. It was done right. if you hand cock the hammer there is not a "single action" position that it lands in.This is a true DOA pistol done correctly. It is one of the best if not the absolute best double action pull i have ever felt. No stacking, no grittiness or anything, just pure heaven.

The other truly unique thing on the revolver is the porting. The smith did a amazing job on the porting. There are two beautifully machined oval ports at 1 and 11 o'clock on the barrel. But that is really only half of the story. It looks like the smith back bored the barrel about .5 inches and then pressed in a piece on the muzzle end and bored it concentric with the barrel. This created a really genius little expansion chamber right below the ports with the pressed in piece acting as a brake.

In addition to that thee are other details that stand out. the trigger has a over travel stop installed. This came with a little cheap rubber grommet that allows you to take up all the slack right before the trigger drops. Also the cylinder is beautifully numbered 1-6.

I really love this gun. It is a joy to shoot and has so much character. But just does not fit my plans. it has some honest finish wear but no abuse at all. The top strap is drilled and tapped for the sight rail it used to wear. This was done correctly and does not go all the way though and now has a blank screw in it just like a factory scope mount.

I also have two other grips you can choose from. A Hogue rubber finger groove grip and another larger Pachmayr grip you can have. Chose whichever one makes you happy.

I will take $350 cash FTF in the metro Atlanta area. No shipping. Need to have a GA drivers license. Only trade would be for a G19 or M&P9 or a Marlin 1895 G .45-70 Guide gun.

I still have the sight rib. I was considering carrying it so i took the sight rib off. The standard sights you see hit dead on with 148gr LSWC over 5.0 gr Unique. So i left it with the sight rib off.

I cant remember for sure but i think with the sight rib point of impact was a little high or low with my hand loads.

Hear is a picture of it with the sight rib installed. Just to be clear these are old pictures and the sight rail is not installed right now.

What does it say on the side of the rib?

The point of impact was probably high as most PPC guns are set up for a 6 o'clock hold.

I used to shoot PPC. I love pulling out the old revolver when someone with a Glop starts telling me much more accurate it is than any revolver.
