OP it appears to not have a safety, if so it is atleast pre 84. You can subtract the the first 2 numbers in serial number from 100 to get year of manufacture. I've always dreamed of owning one of these, not much can beat a marlin or a big bore.

To me the 444 is the perfect cartiage for my area. Reliably will take down deer, as well as hogs or coyotes when presented. Massive blood trails make tracking short and easy if needed at all.

OP has a nice looking example of a classic. They really don't make them like this anymore. A freezer filler for sure. GLWS.

Man between this one and the 375 on here you guys are making it hard not to buy one if not both. Use to have one in 444 back when hanging your Marlin in the window of your truck was cool.
