I think it's somewhere in between. A1 had no brass deflector but didn't A2 have the elevation adjustment wheel?

Yeah. It’s like the early 1980’s style. Kind of when US & export M16 for military was transitioning from A1 to all A2 features. I have an early 80’s Colt with forward assist but No brass deflector too. The 70s A1 has no brass deflectors or A2 sights, even older ones with no forward assist. The one in this ad is forged by Anchor Harvey. That’s a really good one to get. Anchor Harvey has made the upper forgings for companies such as Rock River, Colt, etc..

I understand that but this one has the brass deflector and no A2 sights. I was issued the A1 in '76 and have used the original M16s without forward assist as well.
