Item Description: Up for sale a great estate find, a very nice .54 caliber Numrich Arms “Hopkins & Allen” under hammer percussion rifle. The original gun was designed and made in the 1850s. In the 1950s, the owner of Numrich Arms was so fascinated with the design that he decided to made it with modern steel. They are no longer made and are now highly collectible, just like the originals.
Most were made in .45 & .50 calibers. The .54 heavy barrel is one of the rarest. (The rarest is .36 caliber). This one is .54 caliber with the scarce 32 inch octagon barrel. The barrel is slightly over one inch wide. The gun was fired, carefully cleaned, then stored in a safe for almost 50 years. The bore is near perfect. The bluing is near 98%. The action and nipple are in great shape. It’s stocked in solid straight grain American walnut. It’s in very good + condition with a few light scattered scratches. The front sight is the optional globe target sight. This caliber is sought out for both hunting and long range target shooting.
The price is now only $270! Will meet in the Bass Pro Shop parking lot in Lawrenceville or in Dahlonega. My policy is simple, if we meet and you don’t like it, we’ll just shake hands and cancel the deal.
Thanks for looking.
