Gun is in good shape and working order. I purchased to be a truck gun but never used as such. Shoots fine, loud as hell, neat old rifle.

Those are chopped ishapore 308s basically. I have shot one and found it to have a more pleasant recoil than my real no5 "jungle carbine". If I had extra cash I would grab this for exactly what the OP said, a solid truck gun. I do recall that you need to stick with brass over steel case though as they are still an oversize chamber.

I am sure, you can see 7.62 in one of the photos stamped with the year and make. Have shot 7.62 through it

Gibbs navy arm's build them ..They cut down surplus guns ....They are nice not a Bubba Chopp job.......I wish I had the cash

I have shot this exact gun, shoots very well. I also have another one in the safe, they are really cool guns you dont see often.

One of the few handy 7.62 Nato bolt guns that can take stripper clips and top load. When Gibbs/Navy arms did them, they did an excellent job. Cool way to get a "jungle carbine" and not have to buy .303 for it.
