For sale is my excellent condition CZ 457 American 22LR rifle with Leupold 3-9x40 22 scope in Talley scope mounts. Comes with box and Docs.
The gun is very accurate at 50 yards with plain cheap bulk 22 ammo. The excellent trigger on this rifle is fully adjustable for pull weight and pre-travel. This one is set at 2.5lbs on my trigger pull scale.
An interesting design feature of this rifle is that you can buy additional barrels to swap out for other rimfire cartridges like the 17hmr and 22wmr.
After more than 60 years of shooting 22 rifles, it’s my opinion that 22LR barrels require special cleaning methods, performed sparingly, to protect the barrel and preserve accuracy. A rigid cleaning rod has never been down this barrel. When I have cleaned it, I have always used the Otis pull through system with patches only, and a couple of passes with a bore snake after firing it at the range.
This is a classic designed rifle that lives up to its name. I’m selling it because my son gave me a rifle for my birthday a couple years ago, that for many reasons, I always shoot when I am with him. So, this one has just been sitting in my safe.
