Item Description: I have a S&W Model 640 internal hammer 357, 5 shot revolver. It comes with a holster. I purchased it from a gun store used. It is in good working condition. I fired it a few times at the range. A good gun, I just have other S&W 357's that I like more and need to clean out the safe.

May I ask: what is the diff between a 640 and a 642, besides the cal? I assume it is exactly the same frame, alloy, etc.
Thx

Tom, Camsdaddy has it right--The Model 642 is an Aluminum-framed .38 Special--Sometimes referred to as an "Airweight"--While the Model 640 is an all Stainless Steel .357 Magnum--One is, IMO, the "Ultimate Pocket Pistol", while the other is the "Ultimate 'Pocket Rocket'"--The difference in WEIGHT is about 8 ounces, or so--HTH--mikey357
