According to legend and research:
In 1989 Smith and Wesson decided to built a lighter 629 with a round butt and tapered barrel for easier carry. They produced 5000 +/- to see how they would be recieved by consumer's. This was the "Mountain Revolver". It was never officially named this but the next year the weapon was produced as the Mountain Gun in a 629-3 with the wording on the barrel. They made the Mountain Lion but it also had the picture engraved. This is one of the 1989 "Mountain Revolvers" that was made to see if the public wanted a lighten 44 mag. for carry. It has a tapered 4" barrel, round butt, smooth combat grips. I do not have the box but has been shoot very little. It is Stainless Steel as the 6 would indicate. Not rare but not the run of the mill 629. Trying to thin the herd so not looking for trades. Found the original box and paperwork (see pics), Price is firm, dont tell me what you can get one for somewhere else, just move to next post. Thanks, yes I know I am a butt my wife tells me everyday.
