Leather strop for knife sharpening..

Nothing better than polishing the edge of a knife on a strap of leather! Helps keep the edge longer too!
Like BW said, the back of an old belt works very well. That's what I use after honing on a stone.

Best system I have found is the Flexxx Strop…
It is a 4 sided leather strop that has 3 different grit compounds and a natural leather surface for finishing…

Black it 3000 grit
Green is 6000 grit
White is 12,000 grit
Natural leather to finish...

I used to use an old belt that I had put some Flitz on…it worked OK..but not like this system..

i bought the cheap belt sander from Harbor Freight, and replaced the sanding belt with a leather belt - and wow, it will put an edge on a knife quick.

My old time barber years ago would not allow anyone to sharpen a knife on his strop. He said the point on a knife would damage the strop as it is raked across the leather whereas a razor doesn't have the point. Just a word of warning if you go with a strop.
