Yeah. Bullpups are a no-go unless the ejection port can be swapped or it's a bottom or forward eject. All the time, not many LH around. M1A, AK47, 10/22, AR15 don't give me any problems. Bolt actions no biggie. A LH would be nice, but as a lefty you get used to it. Only thing rules out is bullpups.

Speaking of ejection ports, its imperative that your grandson wear safety glasses at all times. More so as a lefty shooting a right handed gun as there is occasionally blowback from the ejection port.
Start him off with a small .22 bolt action single shot, actually at that age an air rifle might be even better. Either way be sure to not give him any choice about wearing eye protection and ear protection. My tinnitus is bothering me as I type this and it's attributable to shooting with no hearing protection. He will soon be 4 yrs hoping he can adapt to right hand.
Another very good point.I would say it is more important to figure out which is his dominant eye and teach him to shoot from that side. My wife is right handed but left eye dominant so she has a very hard time shooting right handed rifles.
