M1 Garand vs M1A...one rifle

Just curious which you guys would pick and why. I've seen all the arguments for both rifles. I'd be happy with either but lean towards Garand.

So, if you had to pick one rifle to do it all...standard M1 Garand or M1A?

( please keep your tacticool 5.56 guns next to your other squirrel gun opinions....)

I have no experience with rifles and have nothing useful to contribute. I just want to shoot a Barrett.

Mags are too expensive...aftermarket builds leave me questioning the hardness of the steel. I know Tim Shufflin nitrides everything..I heard Garand Guy heat treats but I don't know for sure.

Valid point...Garand thumb is easily solved by proper loading technique which requires practice. Reloading an M1A quickly would also require practice since it necessitates rocking the mags in.

Yes it does, but I shoot rifles left handed. I can't find a good way to load a M1 with my left hand. M1a mags are a tight fit, still working on getting fast with it.
