Decided to go shooting today, so I asked my wife if she wanted to go. She said we should go to her Dad's and shoot. We used to shoot there all of the time, but haven't shot there in years. Her parents have not been in the best of health in a few years. So she called her dad and told him the plan and he said come on. We get there, he is sitting on the porch cleaning on his old marlin .22, smiling from ear to ear. I break out my 10/22 tactical with green mountain barreland out back we go. I set a few targets out about 25 yds out. He shoots a few rounds with his old marlin and does pretty good with it. I set up the 10/22 and fire a few rounds and it's dead on. With a little smirk on my face I turn and look at him . He ain't studying me at all, he's got his eyes on the 10/22. Next thing out of his mouth was what is that thing and let me give it a try. He shot a few rounds and was dead on. We moved to 50 yds and I zeroed it in and that was the last shots I made out of the next probably 200 rds shot. He fell in love with that rifle. I have not seen that 75 year old man smile and actually laugh out loud that much in a very long time. So everybody knows what comes next. Just so I don't have to give up my 10/22 , there is going to be a little project in my near future.
