Well my neighbor had a couple groundhogs trying to dig beneath his house. These couple we from behind his house. Well he made a decision to shoot and trap all the ground hogs in the area. Including my yard.

He spoke with me telling me he was trapping and shooting ground hogs in his years. He asked me if I minded if he shot those groundhogs presenting a problem to his foundation. Well I told him no just as long as he didn't let it get to my yard.

Well one day I got out and there is a trap on the very front of my yard. Everytime I saw it set I would go spring it since it was a good 50 to 75 yards from his house. Since then he has systematically exterminated every ground hog in the area. That would be the ones beside me and in my back yard. He is sneaking around the houses that are unoccupied and condemned. He had taken every one to the point where I don't even get to see the ones in my far back corner that live no where near his area and it's pissing me off. I used to live going out and watching them frolic in the years. He has even went directly beside my yard in one of the condemned houses and shooting into my yard. I can hear the shots as if he is shooting in my house. It's that loud.

So that brings the question. When and how do you tell your neighbor he is crossing the line. I know if I approach him on it I am going to make a enemy and I don't want to do that. I mean he has decimated the population to where there is not one now. Any recommendations on how to handle this?

Greg, it sounds like the neighbor is going to save you some money.
i would not want groundhogs around my house or yard.
the best thing is to have a sit down and give him some boundries.
a groundhog is to trivial of a thing to have bad blood between you.

You have a tough one. I don't like nuisance animals. But he is getting awful close. On the other hand, aren't the critters digging under your foundation?
No. I have a root cellar. Their is a block wall foundation and the house is sitting in that. There are no holes under the block square so I am good. If they were to go under it they would just find themselves exposed out in the open so no problems here.
