I sat in on a meeting about Cobb Co. growth a few days ago and it was mentioned that their precious new braves stadium is way behind schedule. Part of the problem was weather and logistics but the other was a lack of skilled welders and metal workers in the area because of the Braves and Falcon stadiums being built at the same time. May check out some of the big outfits working on those projects.

I've heard from several civil engineers that big contractors are hurting for good labor right now because of the large construction projects in ATL (braves stadium and others)

I do commercial HVAc for a living and this person company is one of our customers. I unfortunately do not know them well enough to have any pull or in-the-door mojo but they build some crazy one-off stuff for SEMA, TV/Movies, etc. It's all custom and generally F-ing cool. They do everything from electircal, wood work, metal fab, pneumatics, etc but may be right up your alley.
