While ignorance of the law is no excuse, New York still sucks. A 29 year old soon-to-be mom is facing 15yrs in prison after being arrested in a New York City airport. The young mother was returning home to Fargo after visiting her husband, an Air Force Master Sergeant, and attempted to check a bag for the flight. She declared that there was a firearm in the bag, the police were called and she was taken to jail. She has now been charged with a felony.

Fargo - Beth Arneson Ferrizzi and her husband will welcome their first child together in June, but it might seem less laborious after what she went through delivering his handgun to him last week. Ferrizzi was arrested last Tuesday at New York’s LaGuardia Airport as she tried to check her luggage containing an unloaded handgun and ammunition locked in a case – just as she had done in Fargo without any trouble.

Sorry, but cases like this are just an unfortunate byproduct of NY's laws to keep people safe. Sure, a pregnant mother might get arrested from time to time... but think about all the real criminals that they're catching or stopping with these laws. Since criminals are no longer able to declare and transport weapons on commercial flights, I'm sure their trafficking has be severely disrupted.

While I agree that this is more than extreme, and just another case of NY's headline loving DA getting more press attention, how can anyone have not seen the news about how insane NYC is about any firearms?
