I have made snake jerky and rabbit jerky over a bed of coals..... Just having fun..... living off the land while "camping". Yes I also ate the snake and the rabbit BBQ style. So how do you make the jerky taste better without all the seasonings and the Dales to marinade it in first?? More of a camping thing than a around the house thing.....

If you kind find them in the wild....crush up muscadines and or blackberries to make a crude marinade. Can also use wild onion.

I am sure more wild plants that can be used. This is one area of my knowledge base that I have just started to expand. if you have a facebook account checkout Kim's Herbal Guide:

Green juniper works wonders over the coals to keep the bugs away and gives it a pretty (lack of a better word, junipery?) flavour. Other than that, I kinda like mine bland lol.

Never made snake jerky, dont mean to deviate but was it any good?
