My grandfather was on the Winecoff Fire in Atlanta, never would talk about it either. My grandmother said once that he said he never knew that human bodies popped like pumpkins on concrete and that was all he ever said about it.

A lifelong friend of mines Father was in one of the barracks having breakfast when the attack happened. He just recently passed last summer. Up to that point he never spoke of it his whole life.My friend was surprised to see the barracks when he went to Hawaii on vacation and it was still standing.He knew which one it was, and the tour guide showed him. He had quite a sombering experience, but said he was glad he was able to see it.
