I just looked at this link to this JAKL job from PSA. Seems kind of pricey coming from them IMPO. Anybody do any hands on with this to see if it's worth the price tag? It seems to me one could build a fairly decent 9 mm AR for that money. Any comments on this matter?

I'm curious as well.

Many of their newer releases (anything with "Sabre" in the name seem to indicate that are trying to pivot from being the "cheap but ok American made" brand to being more mid tier

^ I get having to charge more to recoup tooling, R & D, marketing costs vs churning out lower end ARs

I'm just not sure they have the market/market support needed for them to do it

Agreed!

The host of that video said they were on backorder and he had to wait. They could have been marketing hype but I just can't see going from 400 dollar AR's to 1000 dollar personal 9 mm carbines. If I was to peel off that kind of doe I might more inclined to go for the CMMG Banshee for a few hundred more.

I think they are gonna have to dig deep and work hard to escape that low tier supplier rep..

I don’t know why someone would pay that price for a new PSA design, when the CZ Scorpion 3+ costs around the same.

I’m very curious about the weight of the 9mm JAKL. The 5.56 version is a pig. If the 9mm weighs significantly more than the 5.3lbs of the CZ Scorpion 3+, that’s another strike.

Plus the Kuna, Stribog, Stinger, and several more new ones at/below that price...

This only furthers my point about PSA taking on an already strong presence in that market and coming in so high right off the bat. It kind of knocked me back when I heard the price. I guess sales will tell the tale. If it holds at that price or if they drop their pants.

I held at JAKL at PSA a few weeks back. I cannot remember the caliber, but reminded me of a SCAR. It wasn’t super duper heavy, though; maybe it was a 300 BLK?

Honestly, I watched a video comparing it to the IWI Carmel and while the Carmel absolutely outperformed the JAKL, the YouTuber went with JAKL as his recommendation. SMH.
