Public school alternatives

Relatively few children excel academically without extraordinary parental involvement at home. There's no situation where you turn your child over to another and not have to do a lot of the work anyway. Self-made academic success is rare and almost always less than with parental support.

Homeschool co-ops are a popular way to homeschool but not do it entirely on your own. You will most likely find them at large churches, buy secular co-ops exist.

Accreditation isn't necessary, but it makes anything to do with colleges much easier. I called several colleges to ask about this. You have to know their standards and have documentation to show they met it. Not all private religious schools do.

We pulled the oldest from public school and used a similar curriculum online thereafter. It was just a free online public school. We had to help a ton to the point we could have just homeschooled. Part of that is the kid is average academically.

The younger two we homeschooled until the middle child was ready for highschool. That's when we found out the youngest was doing highschool level work up to tenth grade. School gets dumbed down year after year.

We switched to Accellus for accreditation. The college admissions counselor we spoke to about dual enrollment was relieved.
