I recently installed a new FN/PSA carbine upper on a Spikes lower i had lying around.
Yesterday, I fired a few rounds ( .223 Wolf Gold) to check for function, and tweak the sights.
All went well, but I noticed the rounds all flew forward at about 2:00, indicative of over-gassing, as i understand.
After a little Googling, ( mosly just for spits-n-giggles!) I changed the unbranded H2 buffer that was in it, to a Spikes T2 I've had in my parts drawer for years, then went back to my nearby blasting spot. ( i meant to bring the other buffer, to switch out, and see what difference it made with these other rounds).
I started with a few rounds of Silver Bear ( zinc plated Russian steel cased .223), then some Winchester 5.56, then some PMC Bronze. 223.
This time, the 5.56 all landed up at 2:00, while all the .223 landed ideally back around 4:00 ( I should have had more Wolf Gold on hand, then the only variable would've been the replaced buffer.)
I don't imagine any of this is critical, I'm mostly curious and looking for info, which, as always, is much appreciated.

Do not use ejection patterns to diagnose “issues” in non-military issue weapons.

There are so many variables that can change the ejection direction. Changing your buffer spring from one company to another, changing your ejector/ejector spring, changing your extractor/extractor spring, how you are holding the weapon, etc. Of course, the ammo itself has a lot to do with it.

In the military, the weapons are the same, they’re using the same spec ammo, parts in the weapon are the same, etc.

If you have 100% positive ejection, you’re good.
