Questions about bolt gun weight.

IMG_7912.jpg

These are all .264 caliber rifles. The top rifle is 8 pounds 10 ounces as it sits. Personal preference, I would prefer not to go heavier. The bottom two are about 7 pounds 2 ounces. While none are competition rifles, they're all capable of shooting groups, though I have never tried more than 5 shots without a break. The idea of only shooting 1 shot accurately due to barrel limitations doesn't seem based on experience; it seems like nonsense.

Don’t get sucked into thinking you need a heavy barrel in a hunting rifle in case you need to make accurate follow-up shots.

My Weatherby 307 .280AI has a very light barrel profile. It’s so light that it’s threaded 1/2” instead of the more common 5/8” for that caliber. Here’s 5 rounds of 160grn AccuBond at 100 yards.
