Died Monday 4/26/25. I saw Rick Derringer on stage with Johnny & Edgar Winter almost 50 years ago at the old Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium the summer of ‘76. He wasn’t even scheduled to be there but the Winter bros were back together for the first time in 10 years and Rick came out and they bout tore the house down with “Rock n Roll Hoochie Koo” which is one of my favorite songs of all time but the song I really associate with him is when he was frontman for the McCoys, “Hang On Sloopy.” You youngsters will see why if you watch the video, it ain’t the song, it’s the Sloopy Girl! Anyway, Rest in peace dude….

The 70’s were freakin’ awesome, how bout a little rock n roll hoochie koo yall!

Great ole time entertainer! RIP

He put on a helluva good show with the Winter brothers that’s for sure. I went to a heap o’ concerts in the 70’s and can’t remember most of em’ but that concert in ‘76 is forever etched in my mind. Five bands played that show, in order: .38 Special, Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band, Johnny & Edgar Winter back together for the 1st time in ten years and Rick Derringer joined them on stage, Blue Oyster Cult & last but certainly not least was KISS! It started around 1:00-2:00 pm and went till past midnight. There was one helluva beer bottle throwing fight that got started and ended up with the WHOLE FREAKIN’ STADIUM getting into it, I got whacked upside the head with a beer bottle the second I peeked up over a spotlight truck to see who was winning! 😂😂😂 I got stories man, I got some wild ones just from that one concert. 😂😎

Sounds like a few shows I went to in the late 70’s & early-mid 80’s …… LMAO 😂
Half of them you can’t remember and some of them you don’t wanna remember !! :becky:
I have a stack of ticket stubs and autographs probably 6-7” thick !! No lie !
I met so many rockers and knew quite a few big wig rockers and production people in the mid to late 80’s ….we had a blast !!
I drove a limo for some big shots for a while …..went to so many parties and met so many folks !! It was a time to remember ! LMAO ! 😂

I was at that concert it was wild and hot! I remember seeing them help Johnny Winter on stage, and he ripped it up. I graduated HS in ‘76 and went to many concerts that summer! I also saw Rick with Edgar at Macon coliseum with the James Gang after Joe Walsh left the band, his replacement was Tommy Bolin, great concert!
