I'm going to try and be objective as possible here, but that's going to be difficult. The reason being is I've already experienced something like this with another Ruger pistol (SR9). I'm going to keep this as basic as possible, show you folks some pictures, and report any follow-up I receive from Ruger.

I had noticed some grittyness when chambering a round the last time I switched in a new set of carry rounds and had even looked up some issues with the polymer tip of the 135gr rubbing the magazine to bring the nose of the bullet down onto the feed ramp resulting in a failure to feed. This was on XDs forums so I took it with a grain of salt and made a note to try some other hollow points. This morning I went to rotate out my carry magazine and rounds and felt the same grittyness.

I cycled the magazine through and no issues. One more mag cycle and one failure to feed on the base of the ramp. Cycled two more times and another round became lodged locking the slide out of battery. Cleared that round and fed another that completely locked the slide and barrel out of battery.

At first glance I thought the ejector had somehow walked out and prevented the round from chambering.

Nope, that's the firing pin and boy is that thing extended.

Now, I know the firing pin isn't physically that long. That Ruger feeling is setting in.

So that's pretty much it. The gun is a 2011 Ruger LC9 with about 300 rounds down the tube, EDC'd for five years.

Just wanted to share with you guys, I'll keep you all informed what Ruger's response is. They had me ship out my last broken FP'd SR9 and then sent me back the same gun with just the FP assembly replaced. I don't have issue with that but I think I'll probably just order the FP myself and install. I will wait and see what they have to say though.

I love Ruger guns and but for some reason I never have cared for their auto pistols. I have more Ruger's than any other type of firearm but the only auto gun that they make that I own is an SR-22 pistol. I trust a Glock for auto pistols. Every company has a place the shine.
